Description

Currently OAC can manually create period-to-period growth by using the following method.

But it is still very complicated for self-service users.

In tableau, users can create do it with just one right-click, like the following:

Will we add this capability in OAC as well?

Thanks

Use Case and Business Need

Being able to calculate period-to-period growth and growth rates is a common need in most analytics insight projects today.

We are planning to support calculations such as AGO or TODATE for datasets.

Definitelly this feature should be there - althought BI Server has time-series function - ToDate and Ago, those functions cannot be used for "external" data sets in DV (just for calculations in DV projects, based on Subject Areas - due to a need for Time dimension). If those functions would be "exposed" for all data sets, this would solve the problem.

Yes. It is a absolute necessity. Not only the period to period growth but all the quick table calculations shown in the screenshot need to be available and we need to be able to represent the absolute numbers as relative values as well.

    Indeed a must.

Is there better way to do this in 2023? What's noted here is fairly crude/lengthy given how critical it is to be able to create period over period metrics for any finance/performance analysis.
