New smtp server for Agent issue.

Hi Experts,

I facing an issue while changing the SMTP server name for outgoing email with Agent.

     -Client has given a new smtp server name with port for configuration for OBI agent.

     -We have tested the new server IP and name with telnet command and we are getting the response.

    

Steps followed while configuration:-

     - Login into OBI EM

     - Configuration > mail

          - in SMTP server : <Provided the new address of server provided by client>

          -Port <25>

Restarted the complete server and created a test agent.

However its showing agent has successfully run but no agent email are hitting the inbox.

In logs also we are not getting any error.

We are using the OBI 12.2.1.3.0 with patch.

Operating system is Solaris Spark 64bit.

Kindly let me know if I am missing any step.

  • What about asking the SMTP server admins to look at what they see on their side?

    Most SMTP servers block network access by default from other servers. As @Gianni Ceresa said, you need your SMTP Server Administrators to look at things from their end. Does your OBIEE server have access to the SMTP Server? Can you ping the SMTP server from your OBIEE server for example?

    Hello Experts,

    Sorry for late response....yes it was an issue with SMTP server.

    Firewall was the issue.

    However, issue has been solved by firewall server team.
