Oracle Analytics Server Implement

Dear Concern,
We are currently using Oracle BI Discoverer 11g
, but since Oracle has stopped supporting it, we are planning to implement Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
from scratch.
We have the following questions related to the implementation process:
- Can we install the latest version of Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) on Linux 64-bit OS? If yes, which OS version is required and Certified by Oracle?
- We are currently using an Oracle Database 10g for Oracle BI Discoverer 11g. Should we upgrade that database for OAS or install a new one Database? And if a new one Database is required, which Oracle Database version is supported with latest OAS?
- If we don’t upgrade the database and start fresh with OAS, can we migrate the data from Discoverer to OAS? Is there documentation or a method for this?
Thanks and Best Regards

Hi @user12217438 Welcome to the Oracle Analytics Community
For point (1) -please refer below documentation for certified OS to install OAS
For point(2)- you may upgrade db 10g to latest versions of oracle db . kindly please check in db forums if the upgrade of oracle db 10g to latest versions of oracle db is supported or not (or ) if we have to first upgrade it to 11g and then to 12c and then to 19c. Easiest way would be to install oracle db 19c instead of upgrading 10g db to latest versions for oas rcu schema installation etc., Please check supported db versions of oas
For point(3)- please refer below document .In short there is no supported mechanism to migrate discoverer content to oas
Is it possible to Migrate Discoverer metadata and catalog to OBIEE 12c by EUL Utility (Doc ID 2226029.1)
and we suggest you to start developing data model and catalog from scratch in oracle analytics server using semantic modeler or model administration tool.
Thank you for posting your query in oracle forums.

Hi,
For the database, to be able to install OAS you must upgrade your database. There are 2 aspects to check in the certification for the database: the data source (linked above) is one thing, but most importantly you need to have a certified database for the repository creation utility (RCU).
I also believe Oracle Database 10g is not supported anymore for a while. You should consider moving to 19c.
