OCI: OSMH Clients Not Receiving Latest Updates

SYMPTOMS

Nodes managed by OSMH are not receiving latest security available patches.

E.G.

If a node is patched only security as is running kernel UEK 5.4.17-2136.337.5 and there are newer versions 5.4.17-2136.337.5.1 and 5.4.17-2136.337.5.2 the node isn’t pulling either

CAUSE

This happens when two factors are combined. OSMH is configured to limit packages to only latest available version and only apply security or bug fixes.

This means that OSMH will only keep latest kernel version available in this example 5.4.17-2136.337.5.2 however if this version is flagged as bug fix or enhancement but not security it won’t be applied.
